Day 1 Tinley Park, IL
We board our coach this morning to
make our way south. Spending the
day getting acquainted with our fellow
travelers as we make our way to Tinley
Park for our first overnight stay.

Day 2 Louisville, KY
We will notice the changing terrain as we
pass through Indiana and into Kentucky,
the Bluegrass State. Our home for the
evening is Louisville, Kentucky aka
“Bourbon City.” A visit to the Louisville
Slugger Museum & Factory is a must
once we arrive! We’ll get a factory tour of
where Louisville Slugger bats are crafted
with the same pride that started back in
1884. Afterwards, there will be time to
explore the museum and learn all about
extraordinary role Louisville Slugger
baseball bats have played in the sport’s
past, present, and future. (B)

Day 3 Pigeon Forge, TN
This mornings adventure bring us to the
Kentucky Derby Museum & Churchill
Downs. Experience the thrill of the race
known as “the most exciting two minutes
in sports” and explore hands-on exhibits.
We’ll see the film “the Greatest Race,”
and visit the museum’s thoroughbred,
Deputy Joe! Then we travel to Pigeon
Forge, Tennessee where we’ll spend the
night. Tonight entertainment, Hatfield
& McCoy Dinner Feud. The show is
complete with singing, dancing, heavy
lifting, comedy bits, and other outrageous
entertainment routines while feasting on
granny’s Southern-style feast! (B, D)

Day 4 Hickory, NC
Departing Pigeon Forge this morning,
we’ll travel through the breathtaking
Smoky Mountains National Park.
Stops will be made along the way for
pictures. This afternoon’s attraction is
the Biltmore Estate, overlooking the
Blue Ridge Mountains. It was created by
George Vanderbilt in 1895. You will see
magnificent 16th century tapestries, a
library with 10,000 volumes, a Banquet
Hall with a 70-foot ceiling, 65 fireplaces,
an indoor pool, and a bowling alley.
Almost all of the priceless objects that
you see throughout the house are from
George and Edith Vanderbilt’s original
collection. We’ll enjoy an included lunch
while here. Afterwards, we’ll travel to
Hickory for our overnight stay. (B, L)

Day 5 Myrtle Beach, SC
We continue to Charlotte and will
experience the Billy Graham Library to
discover the life and legacy of America’s
Pastor. We’ll learn about his journey from
a humble farm boy to an international
ambassador of God’s love, the barnshaped
building is situated on 20 landscaped acres,
only miles from where
Billy Graham grew up in Charlotte. After
an included lunch, we’ll head to the
coastal city of Myrtle Beach located on
the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards,
we’ll check into our Oceanfront resort
for the next two evenings. Dinner is
included this evening before taking in
the fabulous Carolina Opry. (B, L)

Day 6 Myrtle Beach, SC
We’ll spend the morning taking in the
beautiful Brookgreen Gardens. On the
way back we will make a optional drop
off at Broadway at the Beach. Located
on magnificent Lake Broadway, there is
unique specialty shops, a boardwalk, an
aquarium and amusement park. Anyone
who wishes can return to the hotel for a
free Afternoon. Hang out by the pool,
enjoy the beach or just relax in your hotel
room. (B, D)

Day 7 Charleston, SC
This morning we’ll travel west to the 300
year old city of Charleston, South Carolina
which is known for rich history, wellpreserved
architecture and it’s coastal
location. We’ll stop at one of America’s
oldest working plantations that has
continually grown crops for the last 320
years, Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens.
Tour the antebellum mansion and learn
about the history of the Plantation and its
evolution through several owners since
1681. Then we’ll see nine of the original
slave cabins, each presenting different
themes in telling the black history story
here. Later, we’ll do lunch on your own
at the Historic Charleston City Market
downtown before meeting a local guide
for a city tour. (B)

Day 8 Savannah, GA
We’ll travel to Savannah, Georgia this
morning. Upon arrival we’ll pick up
our local guide for a tour of “The Belle
of Georgia.” Discover the cobblestone
streets, magnolia trees draped in Spanish
moss, more exquisite antebellum
homes and churches, historic sites and
Savannah’s southern charm. Lunch will
be on your own while you explore along
River Street. Located along the Savannah
River, see century old buildings that were
once cotton warehouses that have been
converted to antique shops, distinctive
boutiques, spectacular galleries, quaint
brew pubs, fabulous restaurants, unique
nightspots, elegant inns and hotels.
Then we’ll board a Riverboat and cruise
for a different look at this charming city.
After checking into our hotel located in
the historic district, we’ll walk over to
Paula Deans Lady & Sons Restaurant for
an included southern dinner. (B)

Day 9 Savannah, GA
Today we will travel south out of Savannah
to Jekyll Island, the southernmost island
of the Golden Isles. We’ll board a tram for
a tour to experience of the rich culture
and history of the Island. Next, we’ll head
out on a Shrimping Excursion in the
calm waters of Georgia’s coast. Learn all
about shrimp, crabs and other creatures
that call these waters their home. We’ll
head back to Savannah for an evening
on your own to explore in the historic
district. (B, D)

Day 10 Chattanooga, TN
We’ll begin our trek north towards home
today, making a stop at the Margaret
Mitchell House in Atlanta, the home
where most of the book “Gone with the
Wind” was written. Then we’ll continue
on to Marietta and visit the Gone with the
Wind Museum. The rustle of petticoats,
the smell of gunpowder, cotton fields
and plantations. Step back in time with
the sights and sounds of Atlanta during
the Civil War and Reconstruction as told
through the eyes of Scarlett O’Hara and
her dashing romancer, Rhett Butler. We’ll
finish our day in Chattanooga, Tennessee
this evening. (B)

Day 11 Nashville, TN
We begin our day at Lookout
Mountain attractions. First stop is the
Incline Railway, a funicular railway
approximately one-mile long single track
system, except for the passing loop in the
middle, allowing both counter-balanced
trains to operate at one time. The trolleystyle
cars climb Lookout Mountain at
a breathtaking 72.7% grade! Straight
up! Sit back, and enjoy the scenic views
of the mountains and valleys from the
observation windows on the train as
well as the panoramic views from the
observation tower at the Incline’s top
station. Next we’ll head to Rock City, a
true marvel of nature featuring massive
ancient rock formations, gardens with
over 400 native plant species, and
breathtaking “See 7 States” panoramic
views. Well continue to Lynchburg,
Tennessee and tour the Jack Daniel’s
Distillery, the oldest registered distillery
in the US. We’ll learn the story of Jack
Daniel’s Whiskey and probably an
interesting story or two about Mr. Jack as
well. We will travel as far as Nashville this
evening. (B)

Day 12 Davenport, IA
A full day of travel is ahead as we make
our way across the state of Illinois then
cross into Iowa and travel to our final
overnight destination in Davenport,
Iowa. (B)

Day 13 Home
With a suitcase full of memories and new
friendships formed, we head for home
today. (B)
