Day 1 Peoria, IL
Our adventure begins today aboard a luxury motor coach traveling to Peoria for an adventure traveling aboard the Spirit of Peoria Riverboat down the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. Enjoy live music and storytelling throughout the day. Snacks and meals are also included while on the boat. Upon arrival to Peoria, we’ll check into our accommodations for the evening Tonight, enjoy a pizza party at our hotel. (D)

Day 2 Springfield, IL
Today we’ll step back in time to the riverboat days when time moved a little slower and riverboats ran the rivers. We’ll board the Spirit of Peoria and have a hot buffet breakfast on the Main Deck. We’ll depart Peoria and travel 4 miles before we lock through the Peoria Lock & Dam. The complex was built in 1938-39 as part of an effort to make the river navigable and establish a route for barges between Chicago and the Mississippi River. While onboard the riverboat enjoy entertainment on the Boiler Deck. Lunch and dinner will be served onboard along with a wine and cheese reception. Upon arrival to Meredosia Landing, we’ll board our Riley bus and travel to Springfield, IL and check-in to the Abraham Lincoln Hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Grafton, IL
Breakfast is included at our hotel this morning. Then we head over to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum to learn about the life of the 16th U.S. President, Abraham Lincoln, and the course of the American Civil War. The museum contains life-size dioramas of Lincoln’s boyhood home, areas of the White House, the presidential box at Ford’s Theatre, and the settings of key events in Lincoln’s life. Afterwards, we’ll board the Spirit of Peoria again in Florence, IL. Today’s cruise includes lunch, entertainment, snack and dinner. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride as our boat churns the water of the Illinois River to Grafton, IL-located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Aboard we’ll experience life in a real river town. The early settlers of Grafton saw the potential of this plat of land and soon this little river town became a center for riverboat traffic, and the riverfront was packed with manufacturing companies, mills wharfs, loading docks and riverboat traffic. Upon arrival, we’ll check-in to the Pere Marquette Lodge, our home for the evening. (B, L, D)

Day 4 St. Louis, MO
Breakfast is included at the Lodge before departing this morning. We head back out on the river, cruising down the Mississippi River to St. Louis, Missouri. Onboard, enjoy lunch and entertainment. Today’s highlight, the Melvin Prince Locks & Dam and the Chain of Rocks Lock and Dam, which allow river traffic to bypass a portion of the river that is unnavigable in low water due to an anticlinal exposure of bedrock in the river....a “chain of rocks.” Our bus will be waiting our arrival in St. Louis. We’ll visit the Gateway Arch the rest of the afternoon. Take in an interactive pre-boarding exhibits featuring 60s era animation and Gateway Arch trivia. Then, be transported 630 feet to the top of America’s tallest monument on the Tram Ride to the Top.* Afterwards, Trace the story of the Native Americans, explorers, pioneers, and rebels who made America possible at the Gateway Arch Museum. Featuring 201 years of history within six themed exhibit areas, this innovative and interactive museum celebrates America’s pioneering spirit and explains the westward expansion of the United States with an emphasis on St. Louis’ role in that era. The galleries span from 1764 to 1965 with topics covering Colonial St. Louis, Jefferson’s Vision, Manifest Destiny, The Riverfront Era, New Frontiers, and Building the Gateway Arch. After a full day of fun, we’ll check-in to our hotel for the evening, the Drury Inn & Suites in Chesterfield, MO-just a short drive from downtown St. Louis. (B, L) *Please note, the Tram Ride to the Top of the Gateway Arch is not fully accessible for guests with mobility impairments*

We’ll experience life at a slower pace in Kalona as we travel the back roads of this countryside getting a first hand sense of the hard work and family ethics that comprises the Amish way of life. An Amish dinner is included at an Amish home this evening before heading to our hotel, the Drury Inn & Suites in Coralville, IA. (B, D)
