Day 2 Santa Claus, IN
This morning we make our way through Illinois into Indiana. We'll arrive in Santa Claus, Indiana. Our first stop is at the Santa Claus Museum & Village which features historical documents, photos and artifacts illustrating the progression from the tiny settlement of Santa Fee to the present day town of Santa Claus. Exhibits feature the story behind the town's famous name, the history of tourism, and artifacts highlighting the town's unique history. Page through decades of children's letters to Santa Claus, and listen to the voice of Santa Jim Yellig. Next we head over to the Candy Castle for gourmet confections including handmade fudge, turtles, toffee, caramels, peanut brittle, and many other favorites including retro hard to find candy favorites from the past! A stop will be made at the Original Santa Claus Post Office & Christmas store where you can send a free letter to Santa. This historic structure also serves as the headquarters for Santa's Elves, a group of volunteers who tirelessly help Santa answer the thousands of children's letters that arrive every year. A photo stop at the historic 1935 Santa Claus Statue, standing 22-feet-tall is a must! When it gets dark, we will drive through the Land of Lights which features the story of Rudolph. (B)
