Day 1 Sturgeon Bay, WI
This morning we begin our journey to the “Cape Cod of the Midwest.” Door County has more miles of shoreline, lighthouses and state parks than any other county in the United States. We’ll make our way through Wisconsin to our home for the next 3 nights. Upon arrival, we’ll have an included welcome dinner at our hotel to get acquainted with our fellow travelers. (D)
Day 2 Sturgeon Bay, WI
This morning a local guide with join us and we’ll board a ferry with views of Pilot Island and Plum Island Lights while learning about how Door County got it’s name from this famous passageway. The ferry will take us to Washington Island, and our guide who will show us it’s sights including the Stave Church, a Lavender Farm, the Commercial Fishing Museum and School House Beach. We’ll have an included lunch here on the Island before heading back to the mainland. This afternoon a stop will be made at Seaquist Orchard Market. After a fun day of touring, we’ll return to our hotel for a tradition you can’t miss, an authentic Door County Fish Boil (not a fish lover? There is an alternative option). (B, L, D)
Day 3 Sturgeon Bay, WI
A local guide will join us again this morning and show us around Door County teaching us about the area. Our first stop is lakeside at Bailey’s Harbor Range Light Lighthouse and Bailey’s Harbor Beach. Lunch will be included at one of the most famous restaurants in Door County, Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant. Be sure to take a picture of the goats grazing on the roof. There will be some time to shop in Sister Bay here afterwards. Next we’ll continue our tour heading to Peninsula State Park. The drive will put us on the Niagara Escarpment proving grand water views overlooking the Bay of Green Bay. Then we’ll visit Lautenbach Orchard Country Winery & Farm Market and check out a local art gallery. Dinner will be included at a local restaurant in Bailey’s Harbor this evening. On our way back to our hotel we’ll stop at Cave Point County Park, seeing the beautiful rocky shore with wave cut caves. (B, L, D)
Day 4 Home
We say goodbye to Door County today and make our way back towards home. A couple of stops along they way will be made that include Highground Veterans Memorial Park in Neilsville and Weaver’s Country Store in Falls Creek. There will also be an included boxed lunch along the way. (B, L)
