Day 1 Duluth, MN

Our fall adventure begins today as we make our way north. Upon arrival to Duluth, we will check-in to our waterfront hotel before boarding the Vista Star for a sunset dinner cruise along Duluth’s waterfront. (D)

Day 2 Duluth, MN

We’ll board the bus this morning and make our way to Split Rock Lighthouse. The view is something you cannot miss! Next, we head over to Gooseberry Falls, enjoying the scenery along the way of course. At Gooseberry falls you’ll have plenty of time to explore the park and falls from it’s many viewpoints. A stop will be made in Two Harbors, where you’ll have some time to explore and have some lunch. Once we arrive back in Duluth we will board the North Shore Scenic Railroad. The first part of the trip is narrated as we pass by all the sights of Duluth, on the way back enjoy the music and commentary about railroading and the area played throughout the train. A personal sized pizza, drink and dessert will be served on our train ride. (B, D)

Day 3 Ashland, WI

Our morning will begin with a visit to the Glensheen Mansion for a tour. The mansion is perched on the shore of Lake Superior, is the most visited historic home in Minnesota. Our 12-acre estate features gardens, bridges, and the famous 39-room mansion built with remarkable 20th-century craftsmanship, telling the story of the Duluth region. Next we make our way to Bayfield, Wisconsin for a lunch stop. You’ll have some freetime to explore the town also. This afternoon will be spent cruising the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, home to magical sea caves and cliffs along with the highest concentration of lighthouses in North America. The Apostle Islands is one of the most scenic areas in the Midwest. Enjoy a narrated, informative 55-mile scenic cruise, passing extraordinary natural scenery, beautiful historic Raspberry and Devils Island Lighthouses, standing rocks, extensive sea caves, and marine wildlife. Afterwards, we continue to Ashland, our home for the next two nights. (B)

Day 4 Ashland, WI

Back to Bayfield this morning! A local guide with join us as we board the Madeline Island Ferry for 20-minute ride. The journey across Superior provides spectacular views of the Lake itself and several of the 22 Apostle Islands. Once we arrive on the Island, our guide give us a narrated tour. We will visit the Madeline Island Museum and learn about the Island’s colorful history through three centuries of Wisconsin’s history. Next stop, the historic Catholic Mission Cemetery with graves dating back to 1700s, including grave sites of noted Ojibwa Chief Buffalo and fur trader Michel Cadotte are located here. We stop at Woods Hall Craft Shop, famous for hand-woven rugs and Big Bay Beach where we will get the chance to dip our feet in the chilly Lake Superior water. When we return to Bayfield, our guide will give us a tour of the city. Discover this charming port-town’s history as we weave up and down its hills and streets. We’ll visit Erickson’s Orchard and Country Store, Superior View Farm & Winery, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Headquarters. This evening enjoy an included Victoria dinner at the Old Ritten House Inn. (B, D)

Day 5 Home

We depart for home this morning. A delicious brunch is included on the way! (B)
