Trip Itinerary


Day 1 Escanaba, MI

Never will you experience such a brilliant combination of colors as in New England during their fall foliage time. Today will be spent traveling through Wisconsin, getting acquainted with fellow travelers. We will cross into Michigan and travel to Escanaba for our first night stay.

Day 2 Frankenmuth, MI

We cross over the “Mighty Mac” today, a large suspension bridge connecting the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. Our first stop is in Frankenmuth, Michigan’s Little Bavaria. We will enjoy a guided tour of the town prior to an included Chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn. (B, D)

Day 3 Niagara Falls, ON

We cross the border this morning and into Canada to Niagara Falls. A local guide will show us around the city and give us lots of information while we tour it’s sights including the Minolta Tower Centre, Rainbow Carillon Tower, Rainbow Bridge, Power Plant Disaster Area, Great Whirlpool, Spanish Aero Car, Great Gorge and Rapids. Tonight, we’ll ride to the top of the Skylon Tower for a beautiful view of the illuminated falls. (B)

Day 4 Alexandria Bay, NY

This morning we enter back in to the United States to the Empire state of New York. Our destination is Alexandria Bay which is located in the heart of the 1000 Islands, a group of 1,864 islands that straddle the Canada and U.S. border on the Saint Lawrence River. We’ll board a boat for a shuttle to the famous Boldt Castle, nestled on Heart Island. We’ll tour the 120 room European style castle and have time to explore the Island. Later, we’ll check-in to our hotel before having an included dinner. (B, D)

Day 5 Lincoln, NH

This morning we’ll board a ferry that shuttles us across the beautiful Lake Champlain to Vermont, the Green Mountain State. Take in the colorful countryside as it unfolds into New Hampshire as we drive through to our home for the next two nights in Lincoln, New Hampshire. This charming town is located in the heart of the beautiful White Mountains. We’ll spend two nights here. Dinner is included at our hotel this evening. (B, D)

Day 6 Lincoln, NH

Today will begin with an adventure aboard the Mount Washington Cog Railroad, a 3-hour guided train tour to the highest peak in the Northeast. We’ll spend approximately one hour at the 6,288 foot summit, taking in the spectacular panoramic views. Lunch is included. This afternoon, we visit The Rocks and tour the Maple Experience Museum to learn about the sugaring process. Dinner is included at our hotel again tonight. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Boston, MA

We continue through the White Mountains making picture stops en route. We will enter into the Pine Tree state of Maine, traveling the scenic Kancamagus Highway. Afterwards, we will take the scenic route through Kennebunkport and along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Here we will do a Lobster Tour. Have you ever wanted to see how Maine lobsters are caught? We’ll get to see how it’s done! We’ll also see sights such as the oceanfront estate of former President Bush, seals in their natural habitat on Bumpkin Island and much more! Then we head to the Bay state of Massachusetts, we will check into our overnight accommodations in Boston, Massachusetts. (B)

Day 8 South Yarmouth, MA

Historic Boston stories are recreated by a local guide during a city tour. Sites include the wharf, Paul Revere’s house, the Old North Church where the lantern was hung in the window that spurred the midnight ride of Paul Revere & so much more! Next we will head over to Quincy’s Market for lunch and shopping on your own. Tonight, we’ll enjoy an included dinner at our resort. (B, D)

Day 9 South Yarmouth, MA

A local guide shows us Cape Cod including a tour of Hyannis with stops at the JFK Memorial, Hyannisport, and St. Francis Xavier Church, where many of the Kennedy Family has worshipped. Next we travel the scenic & historic Route 6A to the tip of Cape Cod and Provincetown. Our guide will share the history and highlights of this area along the way. (B)

Day 10 West Haven, CT

This morning we’ll make our way to the yacht capital of the world, Newport. A local guide will show us this coastal city and all it has to offer on a city tour. This afternoon we’ll visit Mystic Seaport. The Museum’s grounds cover 19 acres on the Mystic River in the charming New England town of Mystic, CT and include a recreated New England coastal village, a working shipyard, formal exhibit halls, and state-of-the-art artifact storage facilities. The Museum is home to more than 500 historic watercraft, including four National Historic Landmark vessels, most notably the 1841 whaleship Charles W. Morgan, America’s oldest commercial ship still in existence. We’ll continue to West Haven, Connecticut to spend the night. (B)

Day 11 Youngstown, OH

We’ll travel across Pennsylvania, which is known for its rich history as one of the 13 original founding states of the U.S. We’ll enter into Ohio, the Buckeye State and stop for an included lunch along the way. Then we’ll continue to our home for the evening in Youngstown. (B, L)

Day 12 Rockford, IL

Today we will travel along the Turnpike through Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois to our final destination in Rockford. Spend one last night with your new friends at a farewell dinner at the Machine Shed. (B, D)

Day 13 Home

We will arrive home in the later afternoon. Thank you for touring the New England States with Riley Tours. (B)
