We will head to Gettysburg National Military Park. Upon arrival, we’ll go to the Visitor Center where you will have time to explore the Museum, where we’ll learn about Gettysburg and a divided Nation at war. Then, we’ll see the film “A New Birth of Freedom” to orient you to the battle and the American Civil War. Afterwards, you will experience the sights and sounds of the battle in the historic, Cyclorama painting. The painting is longer than a football field and weighs three tons! Once our tour is finished, we will head to our overnight destination in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. (B)

Day 4 Lancaster, PA
One of the highlights for many on this tour will be today, as we visit Lancaster, America’s oldest Amish settlement. Here, thousands still live a centuries-old “Plain” lifestyle. We’ll step back in time to enjoy a slower, more peaceful pace, where the horse and buggy remain a primary form of transportation, and where windmills dot the landscape. We will enjoy a guided tour of the Amish area and an included Amish style lunch in an Amish home. We will visit Mount Hope Estate and Winery afterwards to do some wine tasting. The rest of our afternoon will be at Kitchen Kettle Village to explore, shop and maybe even take a horse and buggy ride if you would like. (B, L)

Day 5 Arlington, VA
To give you a professional tour of Washington D.C. we have hired a licensed local guide that will accompany us today. The guide is very knowledgeable on the area and the sights we are about to experience. We’ll see sights such as Washington Monument and Jefferson, Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean, WWII, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Iwo Jima Memorials. We will also drive by Kennedy Center, Embassy Row, National Cathedral, National Archives, and the Old Post Office. And our tour wouldn’t be complete without a photo stop in front of the White House. (B)

Day 6 Arlington, VA
Our first stop today will be at the Holocaust Museum, a living memorial to the Holocaust. Spanning three floors, take a self-guided tour through historical artifacts, photographs, and film footage. Next, we’ll head over to the Smithsonian Institute, the world’s largest museum and research complex. It consists of 19 museums and galleries, the National Zoological Park, and nine research facilities. You’ll have the rest of the afternoon to have lunch and explore here. Then when the sun goes down, Washington turns into a different city! We’ll board our bus for an Illuminated tour of Washington D.C. with a local guide who will show us this capital city in a different light. We’ll see and visit many of the memorials and monuments including the Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, Kennedy Center and many more. (B)
